We have recently discovered a new-found-favourite that we are currently raving about - the amazing Baba Ganoush. Just off Finkle Street, tucked away down a quaint side alley, there is a Food Shop, packed with fresh salads, homemade cakes, a vast array of soups and deli counter delights, all offered to take away or stop in for a quick bite to eat. A little further down, at the bottom of the street though, we found their Canteen and sat down for lunch. Not your usual café by any means and we obviously timed it just right as within minutes, this place was bustling with business men, ladies-what-lunch, and families alike! With an exciting menu of flavours, its open kitchen creates a vibrant atmosphere and the food coming out of there doesn’t fail to deliver either. Check out their website for opening times, with more pictures and menu’s to tempt! Definitely a ‘must’ experience on a day trip to Kendal.
Home of another Tottergill-favourite, Farrer’s Tea & Coffee can be found on the main street. This beautiful oldy-worldy tea shop is a rare find these days, full of its original charm and character.
If you have a little more time, it’s worth checking out what’s on at The Brewery Arts Centre too. From cinema screenings, to art exhibitions, theatre shows and dance, this place is full of interesting options. With a restaurant and bar too, enjoy an evening out, or stop by for some entertainment on a rainy day.
