I include the tag "family-friendly" a little hesitantly for this one. Catbells is a very popular climb, and although only 1 mile up and 1 mile back down again (unless you do a longer circular route), it is a very steep walk. There's lots of spots for a rest along the way of course, but I reccommend this one for children who are perhaps experienced walkers. That said, we did pass a whole class of year 5's on the way to the summit, many of whom looking in far better shape than I was feeling! (and I wasn't the one carrying the 15month old on my back!)
Be warned, this walk will be very busy during high season, and parking at the base may be hard to find.
