Off the Beaten Track - Chesters by the River

Sometimes it's nice to go to the Lake District and enjoy some of the less touristy areas.  Especially in the height of Summer when the popular towns are the most busy.  Why not try sometheing different and head for Elterwater, Langdale or Rydel Water with a visit to Chesters by the River en-route?

Chesters by the River is a beautiful cafe and shop by the river.  It's so full of charm and character that we sometimes like to take the scenic drive through the Lakes with this as our only destination.  It really is one of our favourite little places in the Lake District.

Enjoy a wander around their extensive shop selling gifts, homeware and children's toys, followed by some delicious treats in the cafe.  Why not sit outside by the river and enjoy a tasty pizza from the wood fired oven or a generous serving of homemade cake. (...We can reccommend the Carrot Cake or Lemon Meringue Pie!)

To make a day of it, there's plenty of walks in the area and this would make a great refreshment stop.  It's also only 5 minutes from Ambleside for some exploring in one of the more popular Lake District destinations.  We hope you'll enjoy this hidden gem just as much as we do.
